ENGLEWOOD—Talent Quest Florida saw several familiar faces on its return trip to Mookey’s
Bar and Grill on March 29. The returning venue and home of the 2008 50-plus winner Gene
Goudy, produced talent in all six categories.
“Mookey’s had a strong showing,” said Phil Garris, co-owner of Talent Quest Florida. “We
had a tie in on category and several close scores in other groups. I’m happy with what’s
coming out of that area in 2009.”
Mookey’s was packed even before the contest began with contestants waiting for judges to
arrive. Nichol Benoit, a long-time Talent Quest Florida supporter, KJ’d the contest.
“It’s always so much fun to come back to returning venues and seeing old friends,” said
Steve Blanchard, contest co-owner and emcee. “We met a lot of new people too, which is
great. This was only our second local final so far this year, but it looks like it’s shaping up to
be one heck of a contest in July.
The Talent Quest Florida 2009 Regional Finals are once again at The Ritz Ybor in Tampa July
10, 11, and 12. Contestants advance to the regionals for free. Tickets to the finals are
available on our
