Men's pop dominates Dive Bar local
FORT LAUDERDALE It was the
men who enveloped the stage at
the Dive Bar during the local
finals on Tuesday, June 15. The
venue played host to Talent
Quest Florida for the second time
and brought out a huge men's pop
contingent for this year's finals.
"This was definitely the night for
the men," said TQFL co-owner
and head judge Phil Garris. "But I
don't want to take anything away
from the ladies. There wasn't as
many, but they did extremely
well tonight."
Only four women took the stage
at the returning venue, and none of them were in the Masters category. Only one man was in
the Masters division.
"The pop category was packed with men tonight," said Steve Blanchard, emcee and contest
co-owner. "There was some good talent and a few familiar faces, which is always nice. I hope
they make the trip to Tampa because Lauderdale has a great shot of having quite a few
contestants in the top 10."
The Dive Bar hosted the Talent Quest Fort Lauderdale local final in 2009 and its new local
sister competition, Talent Quest Sunshine State, earlier this year. The venue plans to bring
both competitions back again for 2011.
In all, 13 contestants moved forward to this year's regional finals. For a full list of qualified
