FORT MYERS--The largest Talent Quest Florida local final by far was held at The Sandy Parrot on
Monday, June 8. The packed house saw categories consisting of nearly 20 people and there was
not one small group in the bunch.
"This is how Talent Quest Florida is supposed to be run," said Phil Garris, contest co-owner and
head judge. "The venue was amazing and it was by far one of the best run contests we've seen so
far in 2009."
The Fort Myers local was run by 2008 National Talent Quest Winner and TQFL Pop winner Lonza
Bartlett and Christine Snipes. This is the second year Talent Quest Florida has looked for talent in
Fort Myers but this was the first year The Sandy Parrot came on board as a venue. And the talent
definitely followed.
"This is some of the best talent we've seen this year," said Jenny Jones, judge and past TQFL
winner. "The contestants were prepared in all three areas: appearance, stage presence and vocals.
It looked like the singers were all pros and we really enjoyed the competition. It felt more like a
concert than a contest."
Unfortunately not all of that talent could advance to the finals.
The Talent Quest Florida 2009 Regional Finals are once again at The Ritz Ybor in Tampa July 10, 11,
and 12. Contestants advance to the regionals for free. Tickets to the finals are available on our
Tickets Page.
