FT. PIERCE It turns out that
Applebee's is about more
than just great food and fun
drinks! The Fort Pierce
restaurant turned out some
top talent in the local finals
of Talent Quest Florida on
Friday, June 18. Fifteen
people advanced to the
regional finals after some
stellar performances at the
packed restaurant and bar.
"I think this Applebee's
thing is working out pretty well," quipped emcee and TQFL co-owner Steve Blanchard. "The
place was packed and everyone did an amazing job. We even saw some familiar faces from
past years and contests from earlier this season."
Steve and Sue, who ran the music for the venue, also ran the sound at the Stuart Applebee's
from earlier in the week. A few contestants who didn't make it through in that round made
strong appearances in Fort Pierce after using their judges critiques from the previous
performances.
"I think the critiques are showing their value already this year," said Phil Garris, head judge
and contest co-owner. "Contestants are using our suggestions and improving their
performances already. That makes be believe that the Treasure Coast could be the area to beat
at this year's regional finals."
Talent Quest Florida is July 9-11 at the DoubleTree Westshore Hotel in Tampa. Early
registration begins on Thursday July 8. See the "Regional Schedule" link for full details.
