NORTH PORT--The local order of the Moose welcomed the Talent Quest Florida crew on Sunday,
June 7 with a large contingent of contestants in all of the six categories.
"Everyone really busted out their wardrobes on this one," said Steve Blanchard, contest co-owner
and emcee. "Everyone really seemed to have paid attention to the FAQ page on our Web site and
they seemed to know that the judges were looking for the whole package."
The competition was wrapped in less than three hours but the crowd was excited and pumped up
throughout the afternoon.
"The energy in this place was incredible," said head judge and contest co-owner Phil Garris. "When
the crowd and the venue enjoy the competition the performers always seem to do better. They feed
off of each other and that's exactly what we saw at the North Port Moose Lodge."
The Moose was the 15th venue out of 21 this year and was included in what has been called the
"southwest Florida swing" of this year's competition.
"We saw a lot of new faces and one or two familiar ones," Blanchard said. "It always gets me excited
knowing that more people are learning about Talent Quest Florida and are excited to participate."
The Talent Quest Florida 2009 Regional Finals are once again at The Ritz Ybor in Tampa July 10, 11,
and 12. Contestants advance to the regionals for free. Tickets to the finals are available on our
Tickets Page.
