TREASURE ISLAND By far
the biggest crowd of the
season desended on
Wahoo's on the Island on
Father's Day, June 20. More
than 40 singers
participated in the
competition and Talent
Quest Florida judges chose
21 to advance to the
regional finals in July.
"This is undoubtedly a huge
success," said Steve
Blanchard, emcee and
contest co-owner. "The
crowd had fun and the
talent was amazing. I think the singers had fun and I expect many of them to do well at the
regionals next month."
Head judge and contest co-owner Phil Garris was also pleased with the turnout at Wahoo's.
"This contest was well-run and it showed from the beginning," Garris said. "The singers were
prepared, their appearances were great and overall their song selections were pretty strong."
Wahoo's owners Gail and Les expressed satisfaction with the competition and mentioned that
they'd like to be involved in future competitions involving Talent Quest Regionals. The
first-time venue stayed busy throughout the Father's Day holiday.
Qualified singers advance to the regionals at no charge since Wahoo's covered their entry fees.
Tickets for friends and family are available through this Web site. In all, 400 singers are
expected to participate in this year's regionals July 9-11.
